This is a simple crochet blanket that works up nicely. It looks like tiny shells and there are no holes for tiny fingers to get trapped in.
The pattern is simple
Pattern is in US terms
Dc = Double crochet
Sc = Single crotchet
Sk1 = skip 1
Chain odd number of stitches.
In 2nd chain from the hook *Sc, Dc in same stitch, skip 1 repeat from * across the row. Sc in last stitch.
Ch 1 Turn
Sc and Dc in first stitch, * sk1, Sc, Dc in same stitch repeat from * across end sk1 and Sc in last stitch.
It is really pretty and this measures 24 x 21 inches.
I added one row of single crochet as a border to give it a finished look.
My next blanket is going to be knitted.
This is the first preemie blanket I have made after handing over the others to the Hospital.
The lady I saw loved the blankets I had made and said they are happy to accept different colours.
This one is white as I have plenty of white yarn.
I used a So Wooly pattern called Tiles Stitch.
TILES STITCH along with this I used a Chain Edge that is so easy to do and it makes a lovely neat edge.
This is the result.
This is a close up of the stitch.I wanted to make something that was quick and easy to do.
I hunted through my crochet patterns and settled on something simple. The pattern is called Circle Scarfie and can be found here.
You can download the pattern free, I seldom buy a pattern as there are so many beautiful patterns that can be obtained free of charge.
The pattern used a heavier weight yarn to make the scarf. I used DK weight yarn that would make a lovely quick neck warmer.
You make the scarf/neck warmer in a strip then join the two ends together. I joined mine using blanket stitch as I like the effect.
This took one evening to make so a quick project for a last minute gift. This one in the box for MK Friends.
This is a lovely pattern that is easy to do and creates a lovely effect.
The pattern is written in UK terms but there is a guide to US terms as well.
I think everyone by now knows I like simple patterns that create a nice effect.
I wanted to make a pretty scarf the problem was I had a 100g ball of yarn and unless I mad a skinny scarf it would not be long enough. Then came the light bulb moment a Fake Mobius Scarf.
These need a pattern that is the same on both sides, Garter stitch is the obvious choice but I wanted something different. I wrote down a pattern years ago that I liked and decided to use that.
It is a simple one row repeat.
Cast on 26, to make it wider add stitches in groups of 4.
Row 1 and every row.
*K2, K1 through back loop, P1. Repeat from * to last 2 stitches K2
That's it repeat this row until the scarf is a long as you want it.
I found this video that shows how to create the twist needed to make a fake mobius.
Using blanket stitch to join the two ends makes the seam lay flat.
The scarf looks pretty and it means you can use that 100g ball you have lurking in the stash waiting to be used.I have made this for MK Friends and have put it in the tub ready for their next fayre.MK FRIENDS
I love trying new stitches it helps to stretch my abilities and adds to my library of stitches.
This blanket is for my cat Jessie. She loves to lay on the bed and sleep so I decided to make a blanket just for her.
The top picture is the right side and bottom is the reverse of the blanket, both are pretty.
The stitch is really easy to do. You can see how it works using the link below.
I have collected as lot of So Woolly patterns as she explain has so many ideas to uses them so well. her site is also lovely.
If you like easy to follow knitting stitches you really can't go wrong with this lovely lady. Her videos explain everything and her site has so many ideas you will be spoilt for choice.
This is Jessie helping me sort out some of yarn stash, she just had to get into the box.I startded making this but put it aside due to what happened to our cat Jessie ( see Post March 2025) I had not the heart to carry on with ...
