Fake Mobius Scarf

I think everyone by now knows I like simple patterns that create a nice effect. 

I wanted to make a pretty scarf the problem was I had a 100g ball of yarn and unless I mad a skinny scarf it would not be long enough. Then came the light bulb moment a Fake Mobius Scarf.

These need a pattern that is the same on both sides, Garter stitch is the obvious choice but I wanted something different. I wrote down a pattern years ago that I liked and decided to use that.

It is a simple one row repeat.

Cast on 26, to make it wider add stitches in groups of 4.
Row 1 and every row.
*K2, K1 through back loop, P1. Repeat from * to last 2 stitches K2
That's it repeat this row until the scarf is a long as you want it.

FAKE MOBIUS SCARF

Using blanket stitch to join the two ends makes the seam lay flat.

The scarf looks pretty and it means you can use that 100g ball you have lurking in the stash waiting to be used.

Jute stitch Blanket

 I love trying new stitches it helps to stretch my abilities and adds to my library of stitches.

This blanket is for my cat Jessie. She loves to lay on the bed and sleep so I decided to make a blanket just for her.

The top picture is the right side  and bottom is the reverse of the blanket, both are pretty.

If you  like easy to follow knitting stitches you really can't go wrong with this lovely lady. Her videos explain everything and her site has so many ideas you will be spoilt for choice.

Doll Blanket

This is a simple 18 inch baby blanket that can be used for a doll.

 I love the way the yarn worked up. If it is knitted it works into stripes but using the crochet pattern it worked up in patches that look interesting.

The pattern is simple and works up fast.

I used an odd number of chains.

The instruction below are in US TERMS

In the second chain from the hook *SC and DC in the same stitch Skip 1 stitch rep from * across ending with a SC in the last stitch.

Ch1 turn

SC and DC in first stitch

* Skip 1 stitch, SC and DC in next stitch repeat from * across ending Skip 1 stich and SC in last stitch.

Do this until the blanket is a big as you want.

This creates a lovely blanket that does not have holes in to so would be nice for Preemie blanket as well.

COASTERS

 Coasters are a fun and quick project that I like to make as gifts or for charities. Cotton yarn is needed as it not only holds the shape better they absorb the heat from a mug as well.

You can find all sorts of patterns for coasters and I like the simple patterns. Ravelry have plenty to chose from.

RAVELRY

They have a wide selection of knitting and crochet patterns that are fun to make. 

These are made with a variegated cotton yarn in spring like colours.

The large coaster can be used under a vase or a plant pot on a table or as a place mat. The matching coasters make it a nice set as gift.

These are bright and the white border makes the colours pop.

These are knitted using a corner to corner pattern. I always have a problem making them look square. they really need blocking to help them hold the shape.

Rainbow Babies

 I love Jean Greenhowe patterns. All the patterns are easy to follow and fun to make.

RAINBOW BABIES

The idea is to make the dolls colourful and the little bags are a fun touch.

This time I did not make the little bags, no particular reason I just wanted to move onto other things.

I wanted to make them with different skin tones to add variety. They are quick to make and don't take a lot of toy filling. This time I used safety eyes as sometimes sewn eyes can be picked at by little fingers and pull out.

I marked the 10th row and added the eyes after a few more knitted rows. I also sewed the mouth and nose in place before I stuffed the doll. 

The sewn buttons on the doll was done using a long sewing needle for toy making. these were added after I stuffed the doll. I took the yarn into the neck and fastened it off securely. 

The scarf is sewn in place so it can't be lost and a little one will not choke on it. 

These are fun to make and can be made will bright colours or if you want softer colours.

Spring Shawl

 Shawls are lovely to wear and to make. I like simple patterns, it means I can listen to my audio books or watch TV as I crochet. 

I had some lovely yarn that had spring like colours and is really soft to the touch.

The shawl I made used 200g of DK yarn using 5mm crochet hook. It is not too big and just right to keep your shoulders warm. I hope the Hospital will like it.

SPRING FAYRE ITEMS

 My local Hospital will be having a Spring Fayre in April. I am making a few things for them to sell so they can raise money for various wards.

I enjoy making Amigurumi dolls and animals. I will also be knitting some things as well.

I want to make some coasters in spring colours and if I have time a Spring/Summer shawl.

This is what I have made so far. 

A Long Legged Cat. LONG LEGGED CAT

I added a scarf to help finish him off a little differently.

                      This little gingerbread man was just so cute I had to make him. I know he is usually a Christmas item but who can resist such a sweet face!

He was easy to make. GINGERBREAD MAN.

I learned how to make the stipe without a huge jog. 

This is what you can get if you change colour in the round.

I searched You Tube until I found a way of not having the jog that was easy for me to do.

Changing Colour Amigurumi

Know here is the thing, I do not speak French, however this is not a barrier as the lady shows you what you need to do. It is very clear and after watching the video a couple of times I was able to create the colour change without the jog. This method works for me and it is simple to execute.

This opens up a variety of dolls and animals that I can make and the colour change will look neat.
