Amigurumi

I love Amigurumi and find it fun to make small items. Having a Harry Potter Crochet book that my Husband bought me for last Christmas, I started to try out the patterns..

Sorting hat on a garden Gnome

I wonder which House he would be sorted into? Maybe Hufflepuff would be the best for a Gnome.

Professor  Minerva McGonagall. She turned out okay, a little larger than I thought but she was fun to make.

Meet my Niffler, his name is Scout. I made the little owl that sits on his coin. I wanted a small owl and played around with the Hedwig pattern to make a smaller owl. He is cute and so far does not have a name.

This is my take on a Ravenclaw Witch. I used a mix of the Hermione pattern and Professor McGonagall. I used the closest colours I had  Ravenclaw anad made the hat band from a friendship bracelet pattern making it long enough to go around her hat.
Mixing and matching patterns means I can play with fresh ideas on theme.

Have you guessed yet that I am a Harry Potter fan!

I made these characters a while ago for myself and my friends. Each one holds a charm that represents something about each of us. Mine is the one with the Dragonfly. The one with the flower was for a friend who loves Nature and the one with the book was for a friend who loves books. They are really tiny and can be held in the palm of your hand. I played with mini Amigurumi patterns and made them even smaller. I made cloth skirts for each doll.

Just a sample of my adventure into Amigurumi.

A Fresh Start

2020 has been a year of change and staying home.

Making time for things I want to do has ben easier during this topsy turvy time of Covid-19.

My Husband is Shielding and that means we are at home most if not all of the time since March.

Getting in a new routine and finding ways to get the things we needed took priority as I hunted the internet for groceries. Delivery slots were like gold and many times there were none. Somehow we were missed off the list to get a protected delivery slot until June 22nd, better late than never.

Now I have things in place I started to make time for my hobbies. For me that is Knitting, Crochet, Bullet Journal, Writing and Cooking.

I am a novice when it comes to Crochet and taught myself via YouTube, this means I learnt American terms and translate the English crochet terms into American. I discovered Amigurumi and love it, I may not get the stitch count right 100% of the time but it seems to be fairly forgiving if I miss a stitch or two.

I am between Beginner and Intermediate as far a knitting goes. I experiment with new patterns and love making items for charity, the home and friends.

Cooking has been part of my life from age 11 when I took over things as my Mother was ill. I am a plain cook, I don't do fancy complicated meals. Good simple, tasty  food made with love beats all the fancy stuff.

I love my Bullet Journal. Creating new pages each month with a theme is fun and I use things I find on the internet, trace things, draw stuff and use images from magazines and stickers to decorate my pages.

I have always loved writing, grammar is not my strong point and I get things wrong but as the writing is for me i am not worried. It is the doing of it that I love. I write prose and poetry and will share some here as the mood takes me.

So that is what you will find here a mix of things that I love to do and hopefully some  of you will find it interesting.
